Includes user-friendly Arduino and Python libraries
Measuring just 1in by 1in, compact and efficient
The SparkFun Optical Tracking Odometry Sensor - PAA5160E1 (Qwiic) enhances robotic navigation with high precision and easy integration. Utilizing the PAA5160E1 chip from PixArt Imaging Inc., it provides accurate dual-axis motion data on various hard floor surfaces. This compact sensor includes a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and an onboard microcontroller for real-time sensor fusion and tracking algorithms.
Measuring just 1 inch by 1 inch, this single-board sensor is more compact than many industry alternatives, which often require multiple boards. It features an onboard tracking algorithm and is supported by user-friendly Arduino and Python libraries, facilitating quick integration. The PAA5160E1 chip ensures excellent tracking performance with a typical error rate of 3-5%, which can be reduced to under 1% with proper calibration. It is capable of high-speed motion tracking up to 2.5 meters per second, making it ideal for applications such as warehouse and commercial robots.
The sensors Qwiic compatibility allows for seamless integration into various robotics projects, eliminating complex wiring and simplifying connections to other Qwiic-enabled components. The included libraries and onboard tracking algorithm streamline development, enabling the creation of innovative robotic functionalities. Its compact size and ease of integration make it particularly suitable for FIRST Tech Challenge teams, offering comparable performance to odometry wheels without the bulk.
